Great Starts!

Painting from the Inside-Out

Know Yourself            Pay attention to what moves you!          

Know Your Tools        Understand the expressive properties of each of the 6 tools

Know a Method           I’ll show you one!

Set rhythm lines and plot shapes

First 20 minutes:

Lay transparent color masses in the large shapes or planes

Establish the relative values, working large to small

Second 20 minutes:

Correct drawing, add more accurate color, use more paint

Refine the relative temperature and chromacity of the colors

Third 20 minutes:

Adjust edges, add details, and evaluate the texture and brush work
